This year’s T.Y students in St. Marys Secondary School Edenderry went to Amsterdam and Brussels on the 16th of April and
returned on the 18th 2013. The trip started off with an early start leaving the school car park at 3am, we then departed at 6am to Brussels airport. When we arrived our first journey was going to the Atomium, which is an iconic building in Brussels constructed in 1956 and is 102m tall. We then went to our second destination Mini-Europe, it is a miniature park of famous landmarks in Europe located in Bruparck at the foot of the Atomium. After this we had a guided bus tour of the city of Belgium, and seen many famous landmarks and historical buildings such as
The Royal Palace. We left Brussels to start our trip in Amsterdam, the first thing we did was visit the Euromast, which is an observation tower in Rotterdam and is 185m tall.
After a good night’s sleep in Amsterdam we visited the Efteling theme park, and it is largest theme park in Netherlands and one of the oldest in the world located in Kaatsheuvel. We all thoroughly adored the roller coasters, including the teachers. The next day we started our last day by going on a canal boat trip around Amsterdam. We saw the famous
Amsterdam canal’s and bridges, and we spotted Anne Frank’s House on the Prinsengracht canal. Our final destination was to the Vincent Van Gogh museum, dedicated to the works of Van Gogh and his famous and rare paintings such as ‘Sunflowers’ ‘Irises’ and ‘Almond Blossom Tree’.
This trip was a great way to bring us together and enjoy our last few weeks of T.Y thanks to our great teachers and T.Y coordinators that made this trip possible for us.
